The thing I immediately noticed about Matt and Hope as soon as I met them for their Duke Art Gallery wedding was how laid back and funny they were. As they described their vision for their wedding day I became so excited to tell their love story and honored that they had chosen me to document it. The wedding they were planning, which they wanted captured mainly in documentary style, was the perfect intimate event that celebrated them as a couple amongst all their family and friends.
Hope works with children at CHOP as a creative arts therapist and is so incredibly talented. She had told me that she was doing all the flowers herself, by hand, with paper. It was hard to imagine just how beautiful they would turn out. They looked so realistic that I couldn’t believe they were paper flowers.
This Duke Art Gallery Wedding had a beautiful bookcase in the bridal suite which was perfect for the book theme they had chosen for their wedding. How adorable is that?
How adorable is this photo of the flower girl peeking through the stairs as the bride was preparing to come down for the first look? (captured by my second shooter Lauren Allmond)
The staircase offered an ideal spot for their first look. He was so excited, he could hardly contain himself.
Matt had one of the best reactions during first look… who can blame him? Hope was absolutely stunning!! 🙂
There are so many photos from this Duke Art Gallery Wedding that I would categorize as all time favorites and this one with the flower girl looking up at the couple is definitely up there near the top… 🙂
I tried to get them to be serious for one moment…
And of course this happens… 🙂
Books and candles were carefully placed throughout the ceremony, creating such an inviting atmosphere…
All hand made by Hope, these cards incorporate the art gallery setting of their wedding with a hand painted and hand written pocket with the book theme of their wedding. Inside the pocket is a library card with the table numbers along with the symbol of the deathly hallows from the Harry Potter books. Pretty awesome! 🙂 It’s funny sometimes in the chaos of the day, we don’t typically have the time to analyze all the details and truly take a minute to enjoy them. It wasn’t until afterwards when I was going through the photos that I noticed all the details in these table cards.
Both talented musicians, Matt and Hope performed and sang before stepping off and dancing their first dance together.
